Fire chief's sleeping bag vandalized

At 6 a.m. Sunday, Half Moon Bay police were dispatched to the Main Street station of the Half Moon Bay Fire Protection District after a report of vandalism. Apparently, someone urinated on a sleeping bag belonging to Interim Chief Paul Cole. The bag was confiscated by police for further review. Fire department officials say they are also conducting their own internal investigation. It is the third act of vandalism targeting Cole in recent weeks. His tires have been slashed, and the sunroof on his car was also damaged.

HALF MOON BAY

DUI

4:20 a.m., Feb. 24, Highway 92

Officers pulled over a car to investigate a possible case of drunken driving. The driver failed sobriety tests. He was arrested and transported to First Chance.

Domestic violence

12:51 a.m., Feb. 26, San Mateo Road

Officers were dispatched on a report of a domestic disturbance between a husband and wife. The husband appeared to have been the aggressor and was arrested on charges of domestic battery and transported to the county jail.

Fraud

11:30 a.m., Feb. 20, Kelly Avenue

A woman called officers after she began to suspect that her father was being scammed by his caretaker. The woman had no proof that a crime had occurred.

12 p.m., Feb. 22, Amesport Landing

A man received a check in the mail from a foreign lottery in the amount of $2,990. The man's bank advised him that the lottery was a scam. The case was forwarded to the FBI.

12 p.m., Feb. 10, Patrick Way

A man responded to a fake internet advertisement offering stock broker services. The man was sent fraudulent money orders that he deposited and then wired $7,970 in cash to the sender in Ghana. The case will be forwarded to the FBI for investigation.

Harassment

11 a.m., Feb. 22, Main Street

A woman received harassing e-mails from an unknown person who said he wanted to go on a date with the receiver. The sender had attached photos of himself. After blocking the address, she began receiving e-mails from a second sender. The suspect was contacted by the police and told not to send further e-mails.

Hit and run

2 p.m., Feb. 22, Filbert Street

An unknown suspect backed into a parked vehicle and left no contact information.

Lost car

2:30 p.m., Feb. 26, Highway 1

Officers were dispatched after reports of a stolen vehicle. However, the owner had only forgotten where she parked her vehicle.

Restraining order

2 p.m., Feb. 23, Highway 1

Officers served a restraining order on a man and confiscated a firearm.

Theft

10 a.m., Feb. 20, Stone Pine Road

Brass plumbing valves were stolen. They were valued at $1,265.

Unlicensed driver

11:15 a.m., Feb. 26, Highway 1

Officers took a report of property damage in a collision and found one driver to be unlicensed. The driver was cited and released on his promise to appear in court.

Vandalism

4:30 p.m., Feb. 21, Wavecrest Road

Unknown suspects smashed the window of a parked vehicle.

10:25 p.m., Feb. 23, Troon Way

A woman reported that a person she knew had keyed her vehicle. The victim did not wish to press charges.

1 p.m., Feb. 24, San Mateo Road

A landlord called police after his tenant allegedly cut the lock on a gate to a storage yard to gain access to his property stored there. The owner of the property wanted the incident documented.

Warrant

1:22 p.m., Feb. 22, Highway 1

After pulling over a car, officers discovered that the driver had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant. The subject was cited and released.

MOSS BEACH

Theft

12:02 a.m., Feb. 22

Suspects entered a vehicle and stole the faceplate from a stereo system, a baseball cap and a tin can of mints.

PRINCETON

Theft

8:15 a.m., Feb. 21

Suspects stole two carbon panels valued at $1,000.

UNINCORPORATED SAN MATEO COUNTY

Drugs

1:31 a.m., Feb. 22

San Mateo County Sheriff's deputies responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle stuck in the mud at Cascade Ranch. The car's driver was found to be under the influence of methamphetamines. He was arrested and taken to the county jail.
