At 8:24 a.m. on Jan. 28, San Mateo County Sheriff's deputies were at Alice's Restaurant on Skyline Boulevard when an elderly woman asked them for directions. The patron continued to make conversation with the deputies and made a couple of odd statements which led the deputies to run the woman's license plate number through their computer system. The plate came back registered to a missing person who also matched the woman's description. Deputies were able to contact the woman's daughter who told them that she had reported her mother missing two days earlier. The daughter came to pick up her mother.

Jan. 31, San Mateo Road
A vending machine was found broken. Representatives from the company that owned the machine informed authorities that about $500 was stolen from the coin box.
DUI
3:32 p.m., Jan. 30, Main Street
After a vehicle began weaving on the highway, Half Moon Bay Police officers performed a traffic stop. The driver failed sobriety tests and then falsely identified himself giving a phony name and date of birth. He was arrested on charges of DUI, giving a false identification to police and driving without a license and insurance. He was taken to the San Mateo County jail.
Harassment
4:34 p.m., Feb. 2, Alameda Avenue
The recipient of several harassing phone calls asked police to document the incident. An ex-employee was believed to be responsible for the calls.
8:55 a.m., Feb. 3, Main Street
A woman said that her ex-boyfriend had repeatedly called her in violation of a restraining order. Police contacted the suspect and he admitted to making the calls.
Identity theft
Jan. 30, Bordeaux Lane
Unknown suspects wrote and cashed checks from a victim's bank account. Police took a report of identity theft and referred the case to the bank's corporate office.
Missing vehicle
7:30 a.m., Jan. 31, Main Street
A vehicle was reported missing. After an investigation, police learned it had been repossessed, not stolen.
Missing person
6 p.m., Feb. 3, Kelly Avenue
While officers were taking a report regarding a case of missing juveniles, the boys in question returned home.
Theft
9:30 a.m., Feb. 2, San Mateo Road
Officers investigated a report of missing credit card receipts and $200 in cash that were taken from a business's unlocked safe.
Uninsured driver
5:50 p.m., Feb. 3, Stone Pine Road
After a driver was pulled over for not stopping at a stop sign, officers discovered the driver had no insurance and an expired license. The driver was cited and released.
Unlicensed driver
4 p.m., Feb. 1, Filbert Street
After pulling over a car for speeding, an officer found the driver was unlicensed. The driver was cited and released.
5:28 p.m., Feb. 3, Highway 1
Officers pulled over a car with a defective windshield and discovered the driver had no license. The driver was cited and released.
12:44 p.m., Feb. 4, Miramontes Street
Officers pulled over a car with illegal alterations and discovered that the driver was unlicensed. The driver was cited and the vehicle was towed.
Vandalism
Jan. 30, Kelly Avenue
A rear window was struck with a bat or stick by unknown suspects. Officers took a vandalism report.
11:30 a.m., Feb. 1, Kelly Avenue
Officers were dispatched to a business that reported a broken window in its rear storage shed. Nothing in the shed was taken or disturbed.
Warrant
8:49 a.m., Jan. 31, Main Street
When investigating a call about a possible theft, police discovered that the caller had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant. The caller was arrested and taken to the county jail.
UNINCORPORATED SAN MATEO COUNTY
9:14 a.m., Feb. 2, Moonridge
Deputies were called on reports of a trespasser. The caller was showing a prospective renter a unit when she noticed muddy footprints on the floor throughout the unit and broken glass in the kitchen. A person was seen climbing through an open window and exiting shortly after.
