To fight or not to fight

At 6:45 p.m. on Jan. 24, San Mateo County Sheriff's deputies responded to a report of assault and battery at Johnson Pier in Princeton. When they arrived, one of the two combatants was still there, pacing back and forth, but unhurt. Apparently, both men have had a long history of problems between one another and have had such brawls in the past. In this case, both had agreed to fight, but nothing happened after a standoff.

EL GRANADA

Intoxication

Jan. 29, Francisco Boulevard

Deputies responded to a report of a possible prowler and found three intoxicated men. One appeared to be wanted for breaking parole in Pennsylvania.

Weapons

9:44 p.m., Jan. 26, Highway 1

After stopping a car, deputies arrested two men on charges of possessing a concealed weapon, an altered weapon and a switchblade knife.

HALF MOON BAY

Break-in

12:48 a.m., Jan. 25, Main Street

Half Moon Bay Police officers responded to an alarm call and found the business's rear door partially open. After a search, no suspects were located. The owners arrived and confirmed that someone had moved items in the office. Police also found that the power had been cut in an attempt to disable the alarm.

10:45 a.m., Jan. 25, Third Avenue

Unknown suspects broke into a locked vehicle and stole $900 worth of items.

7 a.m., Jan. 29, Highway 1

An unknown suspect cut off a hinge and padlock to a coin-operated soda machine in order to get into the cash box. Police notified the bottling company but were unable to estimate the amount taken from the machine.

Domestic violence

1:38 p.m., Jan. 24, Venice Beach

Police responded to a report of domestic violence after a caller reported a strangulation in progress. It turned out the couple had only been embracing consensually.

Drugs

9 a.m., Jan. 25, Half Moon Bay High School

Officers responded to reports that a student was in possession of drugs. The student was suspended and a report will be sent to the San Mateo County district attorney's office.

1 p.m., Jan. 25, Half Moon Bay High School

Officers responded to reports that another student was in possession of drugs. That student was also suspended and a report on the incident sent to the San Mateo County district attorney's office.

DUI

3:56 a.m., Jan. 27, Highway 1

A driver failed a sobriety test and was arrested and booked into the San Mateo County jail.

Hit-and-run

Jan. 25, Highway 1

Officers took a report of a hit-and-run collision. A woman said that after parking her son's vehicle, she returned to find the driver's side, rear panel damaged. No contact information could be found.

Suspended license

11:50 a.m., Jan. 27, Highway 1

An officer on patrol stopped a car without a rear license plate. The driver's license had been suspended earlier. The driver was cited and released.

Theft

7 a.m., Jan. 24, Kelly Avenue

Items worth about $1,000 were stolen from an unlocked vehicle.

10:50 a.m., Jan. 28, Avignon Place

A man reported to officers that after losing his credit card he discovered that unauthorized charges were being made. The credit card company was contacted and the charges were refunded.

7:00 a.m., Jan. 29, Main Street

A man lost $55 worth of possessions after they were stolen from his car.

Unlicensed driver

8:20 a.m., Jan. 23, Pilarcitos Avenue

Officers pulled over a car after the driver made an unsafe turn. The driver was found to be unlicensed and was issued a citation.

5:41 p.m., Jan. 23, Highway 1

After a car pulled unsafely in front of a patrol vehicle, officers discovered the driver was unlicensed. The driver was cited and the car was towed.

Vandalism

5:36 a.m., Jan. 24, Kelly Avenue

Three cars were damaged, apparently by a toy gun or similar device.

Weapon found

8:30 a.m., Jan. 25, Half Moon Bay High School

Officers found that a student was in possession of a small pocket knife. School staff disciplined the student.

MOSS BEACH

Warrant arrest

1:34 p.m., Jan. 24, Moss Beach

Deputies arrested an El Granada man on a warrant for being under the influence of a controlled substance. He was arrested and transported to the county jail.

UNINCORPORATED SAN MATEO COUNTY

Drugs

8:45 p.m., Jan. 26, Stage Road

A suspect was cited for possessing marijuana and released.

Intoxication

1:31 a.m., Jan. 29, Miramontes Point Road

Deputies were called after a report of a disturbance. A man there was found to be intoxicated. He was arrested and transported to the county jail.

Unlicensed driver

10:45 p.m., Jan. 28, Highway 1

After deputies stopped a speeding vehicle, they discovered the driver had no license. He was cited and the vehicle was towed.
