Pantless man cited for marijuana

At 11:58 p.m. on Dec. 13, San Mateo County Sheriff's deputies found a San Jose man parked on the wrong side of Highway 1 near Pebble Beach on the South Coast. His engine was still running. He was not wearing pants. A suspicious black film canister was lying in plain view next to his legs, and, when asked, he admitted that it held marijuana. The half-naked man was cited for possession of marijuana.

HALF MOON BAY

Charred remains--Ruined treasures, including watercolor note cards, lay on the ground following a fire in downtown Half Moon Bay Thursday. No one was injured, but several artists suffered losses as a result. For more on this, see our story in the News section.

Burglary

3:39 p.m., Jan. 11, Myrtle Street

Officers arrived at the scene of a burglary after thieves entered a home and took various electronics.

Dispute

8:49 p.m., Jan. 11, Highway 1

A caller asked police to document an argument she had with an employee who was terminated. The report was taken for information only, no crime had occurred.

DUI

2:37 a.m., Jan. 9, Touraine Lane

While on patrol, an officer saw a vehicle sideswipe a parked car. The officer stopped the driver who appeared to be intoxicated. The driver subsequently failed field sobriety tests. He was arrested and transported to First Chance.

11:07 p.m., Jan. 14, Main Street

An officer saw a driver collide with a pole. The driver appeared to be intoxicated and failed field sobriety tests. He was arrested and transported to First Chance.

Missing item

2:18 p.m., Jan. 9, Sea Breeze Drive

Officers took a report on a missing computer that a citizen had set at her curbside for disposal.

Unlicensed driver

4:50 p.m., Jan. 9, Kelly Avenue

Officers stopped a vehicle that had run a stop sign and found that the driver was unlicensed and uninsured. She was cited and released on her promise to appear.

9 a.m., Jan. 13, Highway 92

Responding to a collision, officers found one driver to be unlicensed and with no proof of insurance. He was cited and released on his promise to appear in court.

Scam

3 p.m., Jan. 5, Myrtle Street

A resident received three sweepstakes letters with checks enclosed and instructions to deposit the checks and send money to "cover fees." The recipient did not cash the checks or send any money. The case will be forwarded to the FBI for review.

Spitting

2:20 p.m., Jan. 14, Filbert Street

A man reported that an acquaintance challenged him to a fight, spitting on him and a friend standing nearby. The man did not wish to seek prosecution but wanted the incident documented.

Vandalism

3 p.m., Jan. 10, Half Moon Bay High School

A disruptive student was suspended for reportedly writing gang-related graffiti on a school desk.

MOSS BEACH

Burglary

6:30 a.m., Jan. 10

Burglars entered a vehicle and stole a black GPS navigation touch screen, valued at $751.97.

DUI

11:58 p.m., Jan. 14

Deputies stopped a driver and found that he had been drinking. After sobriety tests which yielded a blood-alcohol level of 0.12, he was transported to First Chance and released.

PRINCETON

Fighting

9:58 p.m., Jan. 13, Half Moon Bay Brewing Company

Officers arrived to find a fight in progress outside of the bar. Twenty minutes later, one of the aggressors returned. He appeared intoxicated and was arrested for drunkenness and resisting arrest.

UNINCORPORATED SAN MATEO COUNTY

Stolen property

6:04 p.m., Jan. 14, Diggs Canyon Road

Deputies found a driver had a stolen laptop. He was arrested and booked into the county jail.
