Mandatory evacuations are underway for residences on Oak Avenue in Half Moon Bay following reports of a broken gas main.

Police and fire units responded along with trucks from PG&E at 1:11 p.m. today. Around 1:30 p.m., officials were blocking off parts of Oak and Pilarcitos avenues with the smell of gas still in the air.

It was not immediately clear when the leak would be fixed or when residents would return to their homes.
