TALK TO ME OR I'LL STEAL YOUR STUFF

On the morning of Oct. 21, Half Moon Bay Police responded to investigate a reported theft. The alleged theft involved a couple in the midst of breaking up; the victim was unwilling to speak to the suspect. The suspect took some of her personal items in the hopes it would force the victim into a conversation. That turned out to be a mistake. Police found the suspect, collected the items, and will now be forwarding the case to the District Attorney's Office for prosecution.

EL GRANADA

Domestic violence

8:14 p.m., Oct. 16

Deputies arrived at a residence to find a woman had been assaulted. They arrested Jamie Sherfy, 42, of El Granada for felony domestic violence. He was booked into San Mateo County jail.

8:12 p.m., Oct. 17, Pillar Ridge Mobile Home Community

Ramon Villanueva, 22, of Half Moon Bay was arrested on felony false imprisonment and misdemeanor domestic violence charges after deputies took the statement from a female. He was taken to San Mateo County jail.

DUI

12:34 a.m., Oct. 14

After being stopped for a vehicle code violation, deputies noticed that the driver appeared intoxicated. After failing sobriety tests they arrested her for driving under the influence.

Hit and run

10:31 p.m., Oct. 13, Highway 1

After a collision between cars in the parking lot off Highway 1 near the Red Ginger restaurant, one of the drivers left the scene without notifying the owner of the other car.

Theft

1 p.m., Oct. 13, Sonora Avenue

Deputies responded to a report that a resident had the 2006 registration tabs stolen off a vehicle while parked in the driveway of his residence.

8:23 p.m., Oct. 16, Avenue Portola

Sometime over the course of the night someone entered the victim's unlocked car and stole a cell phone, cash, several gift cards, and some jewelry.

HALF MOON BAY

Dispute

10:45 p.m., Oct. 23

Police were dispatched to a dispute between neighbors after one told them that her neighbor intentionally sprayed pesticides on the front porch of her house. The neighbor denied it and police found no evidence that the incident occurred. The report was taken for information.

Drugs

10 a.m., Oct. 23, Lewis Foster Drive

Two students at Half Moon Bay High School were caught with drug paraphernalia and the police were called. The students were detained and admitted to smoking marijuana during a break. They were suspended and the case was forwarded to the District Attoney's Office.

Drunk in public

5:30 p.m., Oct. 21, Kelly Avenue

An intoxicated juvenile came into the police department to get information about a friend who was arrested earlier in the evening. Police found the girl to be too intoxicated to care for herself and she was released to her mother.

DUI

4:42 p.m., Oct. 21, Highway 1

While on patrol a police officer stopped a driver for making a U-turn on a red light. When approached, the driver appeared intoxicated. The driver was arrested and was taken to First Chance.

Gang activity

10:45 a.m., Oct. 23, Lewis Foster Drive

A gang-related fight was reported at Half Moon Bay High School after one student punched another in the head. Several minutes later the other student struck his attacker. Both were suspended and the case was forwarded to the District Attorney's Office.

Harassment

11:15 a.m., Oct. 18, Railroad Avenue

A citizen told a police officer about annoying phone calls he had been getting about three times a day from an unknown caller. He was advised on how to get assistance from the phone company.

Hit and run

8 a.m., Oct. 21, Terrace Avenue

A citizen told police that his car was undamaged when left in front of his house. However, he found minor damage upon returning to the car later.

Theft

8 a.m., Oct. 20, Magnolia Street

Police officers took a report of a theft after power tools were taken from the side yard of a house.

LA HONDA

Domestic violence

7:38 p.m., Oct. 17, Cuesta Real

A victim told deputies she had been assaulted by her boyfriend the previous night. The victim also said that he had destroyed her residence phone and stole her cell phone. Deputies were unable to locate the man at the scene.

MONTARA

Theft

12:55 p.m., Oct. 13, Irving Street

At some point over the course of the night, an unknown suspect entered the victim's unlocked car and took a wallet with money and credit cards. The suspect then used the credit cards to purchase goods.

MOSS BEACH

Burglary

10:28 a.m., Oct. 15, Ocean Avenue

Deputies responded to a burglary in progress after being told that the homeowner was chasing a suspect from his house. Deputies found a subject in the area matching the description of the person who fled the residence. The resident identified the person as the man who entered his home. An investigation is ongoing.

Warrant arrest

8:53 a.m., Oct. 18

A man was arrested for an outstanding warrant. He was taken to San Mateo County jail.

Fraud

6 p.m., Oct. 17, Highway 1

A victim of credit card fraud came into the North Coast Sheriff's substation to report that someone had been using his credit card. There were several unauthorized charges on the card from stores in Hayward.

Drugs

2 a.m., Oct. 14, The Pillar Ridge Mobile Home Community

Scott Fisher, 40, of Montara, was arrested after deputies found a small amount of methamphetamine on him. Fisher was on county probation. He was taken to San Mateo County jail.

PRINCETON

Vandalism

9:15 a.m., Oct. 15, Yale Avenue

Sometime overnight an unknown person spray-painted the rear window of a vehicle.

UNINCORPORATED SAN MATEO COUNTY

Domestic violence

1:14 p.m., Oct 18, Skyline Boulevard

Deputies took a report from a woman who said that her boyfriend had assaulted her and then fled the scene. Deputies searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect.

5:42 p.m., Oct. 14, Gazos Creek

After being stopped for a code violation, a man was given sobriety tests because deputies noticed he appeared intoxicated. The man was arrested for driving under the influence and was taken to San Mateo County jail.
