Burglary suspects arrested in Pescadero

On the afternoon of July 31, San Mateo County Sheriff's deputies arrested Evelyn Iokua, 27, of Scotts Valley and Joe Eugenius, 20, of Auburn, in Pescadero for burglary and possession of stolen property. The duo was driving a car that was implicated in a residential burglary in Half Moon Bay. The investigation also revealed that the two may also have been involved in the burglarizing of a car at Bean Hollow Beach. Both men were booked into San Mateo County jail.

10:45 p.m., Aug. 2, Highway 1

A man was arrested for drunk driving after deputies spotted him swerving down Highway 1.

Half Moon Bay

Battery

12:50 p.m., July 26, Alameda Avenue

Police received word from an area hospital that they were treating a victim of battery and that the incident likely occurred in Half Moon Bay. The victim declined police assistance and didn't want to make a report.

Driving without a license

7:30 a.m., Aug. 1, Highway 1

After an officer detained a driver for stopping in the middle of a crosswalk he found the driver didn't have a license. The driver was cited and released on his promise to appear in court.

10:53 a.m., Aug. 1, Highway 1

When an officer out on patrol saw a car with a broken brake light he stopped the car. The driver didn't have a license and was uninsured. He was cited and released on his promise to appear.

DUI

1:28 a.m., Aug. 5, Highway 1

An officer pulled a car to the side of the road after noticing the car had a flat front tire. The driver appeared to be drunk and he wound up failing field sobriety tests. He was arrested and taken to First Chance.

12:13 a.m., Aug. 6, Highway 1

An officer stopped after being flagged down at the site of a traffic accident. One of the drivers appeared drunk and failed field sobriety tests. He was arrested and taken to First Chance.

Suspicious circumstance

6:30 a.m., Aug. 1, Arnold Way

An officer took a report of a resident who was getting annoying hang-up calls. He was told about the process of getting a phone tap from the phone company.

4:30 p.m., Aug. 3, Highway 1

A police officer arrived at a local store after an employee thought he saw a would-be customer put an item in her purse. The woman refused to let the employee search her purse. She then put an item in her cart, which the employee thought was the same item she may have placed in her purse. The woman left the store in a rental car.

Theft

5:45 p.m., Aug. 4, Kelly Avenue

Police received word that a theft had occurred at a laundromat. They estimated approximately $1,000 worth of clothing was taken.

Vandalism

2:11 p.m., Aug. 1, Ocean View Park

Someone was up to no good at Ocean View Park. Police arrived on a tip that someone had drawn obscene pictures and words inside the tunnel slide. The Half Moon Bay Public Works Department was told about the graffiti.

Warrant arrest

11:50 p.m., July 31, Reflection Lake

Responding to a noise complaint, deputies found a girl who had a misdemeanor warrant for her arrest. She was arrested and booked into the Hillcrest Juvenile Facility.

A homeowner reported that a window at his home was shattered by a paintball.

Moss Beach

Driving without a license

9:40 p.m., July 31

A man was cited for driving with a suspended license after deputies stopped him for a traffic violation.

Drunk in public

12:10 a.m., Aug. 2, Pillar Ridge Trailer Park

Deputies arrived at the scene of a fight. They found a man who was very intoxicated. He had apparently started an argument with his brother, and deputies determined he was too drunk to care for himself. He was arrested and taken to San Mateo County jail.

Pescadero

Theft

11:25 a.m., August 1, Pomponio State Beach

While a woman enjoyed the sun and sand at Pomponio State Beach, someone opened the door to her unlocked Toyota and stole her cell phone.

Unincorporated San Mateo County

Vandalism

4:40 a.m., Aug. 1, Purisima Creek Road

Sometime over the course of the night vandals destroyed the victim's mailbox.
