Allan Alifano and his son, Michael, aren't doctors, but they know just about everything
about sickness - that is, when the patient is a computer.

The business, which was created in 2002 as a home-based venture, offers Coastsiders the ability to have their computers repaired and upgraded, or to buy parts and accessories.
It's all done locally, without the customer having to make a trip over the hill.
Michael, a self-taught computer guru, can diagnose and fix all makes and models, from laptops to servers and complicated business networks.
Services include on-site repairs at the client's home or office, installation of high-speed broadband internet and wireless routers and peripherals.
Over the past two years, one of the most common repair jobs has become the removal of spyware, malicious, parasitic programs that can fill a computer with pesky pop-up windows, often causing the machine to dramatically slow down or - to the frustration and dismay of unwitting computer users - sometimes even crash.
"A lot of people just don't know what happened," Allan said, explaining the insidious, infectious and highly sophisticated nature of spyware. "In many cases they find they just can't operate their computers anymore."
After resolving the problem, the pair helps the owner install the proper protective software to prevent the problem from happening again.
Alifano Technologies stocks and sells most software titles to help computer users protect their machines and networks from spyware, viruses, worms, hackers and other malicious programs.
In addition to the other services, the Alifanos build customs computers, from "ultra-fast
gaming machines" to "highly reliable business servers."
The store offers new Dell computers in stock ready for sale along with various brands of wireless keyboards and mice, wireless routers and network adapters, internal and external hard drives, and CD and DVD burners.
The new store is open Monday through Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. and often longer hours.
