Just before the end of the workday leading up to the Fourth of July weekend on Friday, a two-car collision occurred on Devil's Slide on Highway 1, causing delays for more than two hours.
A bright yellow Acura Integra lost control on a sharp turn and spun into oncoming traffic before careening into a grey Ford Explorer near the north end of the treacherous roadway, according to California Highway Patrol officers on the scene.

Broken glass from the rear window of the Acura littered the highway, as it continued to crunch beneath the tires of the passing cars with passengers' eyes intently gazed on the scene.
The two young males riding in the Acura waited in relatively calm spirits as the tow truck arrived and took more than an hour to load the car onto the truck. They are both residents of Discovery Bay, south of Brentwood.
The middle-aged couple in the Explorer were on their way to the airport with luggage packed and ready to go in the back of their sport utility vehicle. They're both residents of Brea, near Los Angeles.
