So damn sorry

Published/Last Modified on Sunday, Jun 15, 2003 - 10:00:00 pm PDT

Dear editor:

I have just come from Main Street, Half Moon Bay. Cunha's store is burning. I stood there with others also watching with sad faces, while hundreds of memories flooded my mind. How many presents have I purchased from that incredible store, how many holiday turkeys, how many after school sandwiches for my son when he attending Cunha Intermediate School?

Who works there who isn't my friend, who isn't a friend to this whole town? I know every inch of that store, but I am no exception, most of us do. I can't imagine Half Moon Bay without Cunha's store, or maybe I can, I just won't tonight. I don't want to imagine it. It is like imagining Half Moon Bay without pumpkins, or flowers, or cypress trees, or Mavericks Beach. Dearest Bev and all who worked at Cunha's, we all love you, we all are so sorry.

Donna Pacini,

Half Moon Bay
